Samsung India proclaims the launch of its new series of Digital still cameras and camcorders at the Photofair 2008, Mumbai. The Company make known the launch of the ‘NV’ series, ‘I series’, ‘L series’ and ‘S series’ of Digital Still Cameras.
In observance with the changing consumer preferences, the new 2008 series of Samsung Digital Still Cameras comprises of Digital cameras with resolutions of 7,8 and 10 mega pixels , larger sized LCDs and sleek form factor. We have introduced color options across our different models as well”.
The i85 comes with an 8.1 Mega pixel camera resolution, 5x optical zoom lens, 3-inch TFT LCD screen, Face discovery, and multimedia player with MP3 as well as means to record Movie Clips in MPEG 4 Format, movie editing and a Flash animated User Interface. It is priced at Rs. 14,990.
The Samsung L830 and L730 Digital Still Cameras are targeted at consumers looking for advanced features and superior styling. The L830/L730 Digital Still Cameras come with 8MP/7.2MP Camera resolutions, 3x Optical zoom and 2.5-inch LCD screens. They come with a Shake Reduction feature, MPEG 4 movie recording means and have a compact aluminum body. The L830 is priced at Rs. 10,990, and the L730 is priced at Rs. 8,990.
Samsung also announced the launch of two new entry-level digital cameras - the 7.2 mega-pixel S760 and the 8.1 megapixel S860. The two new models extend the range of Samsung’s S-Series, and sport 3x optical zoom. They come in a selection of 4 colors: silver, black, pink and blue. They are equipped with a Mode Dial that allows smooth button between various shooting options, from Automatic Mode to Video Recording.

These cameras also support up to ISO 1000, and makes use of the Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) technology for correction of hand-shake. They have an extra E button and shortcut keys on the rear side, providing access to various functions such as color change and red eye correction. While the S760 is priced at Rs. 6,990, the S860 is priced at Rs. 8,990.
Zutshi said, “We plan to insistently tap the Photographic Channel and large format retail stores for our new Digital Still Camera range along with our regular CE Channel. Based on our innovative DSC range and our expanded channel reach, we expect to double our Digital Still Camera volumes this Year.” The Samsung DSC Lineup is priced in the range between Rs. 5990 and Rs 19,990.
Samsung also launched a line of compact digital camcorders consisting of the VP-HMX10A, VP-MX10A and VP-DX10, providing consumers with a wide range of easy-to-use, high-performance features and stunning intend. These camcorders sport a swivel grip – able to rotate a 135 degrees – enabling consumers to shoot videos at very low or high angles.
Samsung’s first HD camcorder, the VP-HMX10A, delivers HD picture quality resolution viewed on the 2.7-inch high-resolution touch panel LCD screen. Its 50 fps Progressive technology enables the VP-HMX10A to capture detailed videos, recording to 4 GB of internal flash memory (1HR recording). The VP-HMX10A is priced at Rs. 34,900 and the Samsung camcorder range is priced between Rs. 13,900 and Rs. 34,900.
Samsung also showcased the NV24 HD, a 10 mega-pixel point-and-shoot digital camera capable of shooting high-definition video. It allows recording video in 720p high-definition at a maximum frame rate of 30fps. It features a movie stabilizer and optical zoom while recording video and with Samsung’s Successive Recording mode, can pause, and then resume filming without having to save the clips as individual files.
The NV24 HD utilizes H.264 solidity, a codec for description video that has become an industry standard. To enjoy the NV24 HD’s high-definition video on an HDTV television, consumers simply dock the camera into a proprietary Samsung HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) cradle (sold separately). For added versatility, when the HDMI CEC cradle is associated to a high-definition Samsung digital television, end-users can navigate the NV24 HD’s menu using their TV’s remote control. The HDMI CEC cradle also gives shooters the aptitude to view and split their images in high-definition clarity, further enhancing the digital imaging experience.
With an ultra-wide angle, 24mm Schneider lens and 3.6x optical zoom, the NV24 HD gives shooters the ability to put in prison more of a preferred scene and healthy it into the frame, perfect for shooting landscapes or large groups of people. No word is out so far about when it’s going to be opened in India.
