Panasonic Wii proofs Plasma TV

Panasonic has intended a plasma TV in particular for use with a Nintendo Wii games console. The company designed the set after reports of screens being smashed when the Wii Remote flew out of gamers’ hands. The remote features motion-sensing technology which players use as a near racket when playing tennis games, for example.
Panasonics new set is intended to absorb a hit on the screen with up to four Joules of kinetic energy, thanks to a special see-through coating sprayed on the screen.
Sounds like a good sole selling point for Panasonic, although the wrist strap that comes with the Wii remote seems a simpler solution. Panasonic has not yet free details on pricing or ease of use of the Wii-proof set.
Other manufacturers are also coming up with products to protect screens from Wii remote damage – a Taiwanese manufacturer has designed a authority LCD TV Wii guard.
